Consumerism...

Consumerism, is not limited to material things. 'Experience' is also now something to be consumed. For example, more people travel now, and more widely, than they ever have done before. While this is a reflection of the speed with which we can now be transported to 'foreign parts' and of the growth in affluence of much of the world, and thoug travel in itself is neither good nor bad, much travel is motivated by the unconscious belief that, fundamentally, happiness lies in a place other where we are at the moment, a special place different from everyday reality. read more...

Christianity vs. Buddhism

Religions

At heart, the difference between the two religions lies in their respective explanations of the nature of the primary force of the universe and how we, as human beings, relate to it. Christianity teaches the existence of an all-powerful and all-seeing God.read more...
Other HolyCabin® building ideas

Of-course when a 'rotating platform' is not within your budget, you can carve the world religions on a peace of wood. Just use your imagination. Give this object a central spot in your cabin. I used an old peace of wood and paint which was available on this location (3 Rivers Eco Lodge, Dominica W.I.).
Tell us your experience and we will place it on this weblog.
Why not in New York?
January 10, 2007 Filed in: Ideas
Why not a retreat cabin in the centre of all hectic in Manhattan or Central Park New York? This idea was first given to me by one of our guest at 3 Rivers Dominica. She was from New York. Unfortunately I only can remember her friends last name (Boiler). Well perhaps she will read this blog and contact me. I can imagine that there are plenty wellness centres, for which you have to pay for. This is different. Here you can come to rest and do your 'thing'. It would be great if a group of people would take up this idea for New York and start building, or offering a room, a HolyCabin in New York! I thought, it doesn't always have to be on a camping... There are also other places where more people can benefit.
The Very First One!

At 3 Rivers Dominica in the Forest Retreat, building started for the very first HolyCabin worldwide!
The structure will be round, with bamboo walls and a roofing of selmush grass. From the very start of my idea Keith, a Carib native Indian, was enthusiastic and took on the major building and will be taking care of the maintenance in the future.
I will keep you up-to-dated on the progress. Regards, Jerome.

At Schiphol Airport Amsterdam there is a silence centre available and suitable for people of all religions. There are various textbooks available for perusal in several languages. On Sundays a service is held at 11.00 hours. It is also possible to hold a service yourself as a group.
Tell us your experience with a Silence Centre.
My idea: A holy cabin or hut on every camping... worldwide.
